A Great Way to Start the Week

It had been a while since my neighbors from Madison and I visited Rosso Vino, 130 Shore Drive, Branford on Short Beach Neighbor Night, which is held every Monday. I wondered if owner Joe Flores and crew had maintained their edge. Were they were still offering great food, great service, all for $26 per person for a three course meal? When we drove by around 7 p.m. on a recent Monday night, one glance from the street into the cozy spot on the corner told us everything we needed to know. The place was packed. We turned the corner, valet parked, and before we were even in the door, Flores rushed out and assured us a table would soon be available. After a very short wait, we were seated at a table with the trademark red napkins and immaculate white tablecloths. Our waiter, both attentive and efficient, knew the menu inside and out, and brought our food quickly. Everything was delicious, and the generous portions left plenty for lunch the next day. The bar was standing-room-only packed. Every seat was taken. Everything ran like clockwork. Kudos to Flores, who was everywhere at once, and his crew for not missing a step. If you’re looking for a delicious, reasonably priced meal on a Monday night, consider joining your shoreline neighbors at Joe’s place.
