Roly Poly Author Event With Jane Dyer At Breakwater Books

An event with Jane Dyer, the author and illustrator with Mem Fox of Roly Poly, will be offered Saturday, Feb. 29 from 11 a.m. to noon at Breakwater Books, 81 Whitfield Street, Guilford. Dyer will read from the book, demonstrate the needle-felting technique used to make the characters, and have the original home of Roly Poly and his family available for viewing.

In Roly Poly, a young polar bear has a grand life requiring no sharing. The, one morning, he awakens to discover his newborn brother in his bed. The tale is illustrated with Jeanne Birdsall’s photographs of Dyer’s polar bear characters posed in various scenarios.

Dyer has illustrated more than 50 books for children, including the New York Times bestsellers Cookies: Bite-Size Life Lessons by Amy Kraus Rosenthal, Time for Bed by Mem Fox, I Love You Like Crazy Cakes by Rose A. Lewis, and Talking Like the Rain: A Read-To-Me Book of Poems. She lives and works in Northampton and Cummington, Massachusetts.

Breakwater Books will have copies of Roly Poly and other titles with illustrations by Dyer available for purchase at the event.
