The Clinton Art Gallery’s Poetry Place Sunday Series final event for 2019 will feature Pat O’Brien, Lorraine Reiss, and Mary Buell Volk, reading their poetry in conjunction with an exhibition of their photography and paintings.

The exhibition will remain on display in the Laurel Ann Olcott Art Center at 20 East Main Street, Clinton, where the reading will take place on Sunday, Nov. 24 from 2 to 4 p.m.

The reading is free and open to the public, and also features a popular open mic, which offers audience members the chance to hear some local poets read their work. Participants are encouraged to come early to reserve a seat, as well as to sign up for the open mic, if interested. Wine, cold drinks, cheese and crackers, and a variety of sweets will be offered before and after the reading and during the break. The Poetry Place Sunday Series will celebrate the opening of its fifth season on April 26, with a reading by Connecticut Poet Laureate Margaret Gibson and poet Edwina Trentham.

O’Brien is a graduate of Columbia School of Social Work and has worked and volunteered as a social worker throughout her adult life. She is the current poet laureate of Old Saybrook and is working to share her fellow-poets’ work all over town.

Reiss is a retired architectural designer living in Higganum. She volunteers for town gardening, civic, and library projects, and is currently a trustee of the Brainerd Memorial Library in Haddam.

Buell Volk is a Connecticut native living in Old Saybrook. She is a founding member of the Connecticut River Poets and has published a collection of her poetry, Here After, with photographer Carin Roaldset.
