Metropolitan Opera Talk: Akhnaten by Philip Glass

The Metropolitan Opera discussion series continues on Thursday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. at the Guilford Free Library, 67 Park Street, Guilford.

Paul Hawkshaw, Yale professor emeritus in the practice of music history, will discuss Akhnaten, the masterpiece opera by Philip Glass. The production features countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo as the title pharaoh, the revolutionary ruler who transformed ancient Egypt, with the mezzo-soprano J’Nai Bridges in her Met debut as his wife, Nefertiti. The Metropolitan Opera production will be broadcast at Regal Cinemas in Branford and the Kate in Old Saybrook on Saturday, Nov. 23.
