The nation’s love affair with the car will be on display at the fourth annual Classic Car Show on Sunday, Sept. 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Old Saybrook Auto Mall, 255 Middlesex Turnpike, Old Saybrook.

The car show is presented by Jon Lorensen’s Old Saybrook Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram and Old Saybrook Hyundai, with the assistance of VFW Post #10153.

Last year, more than 130 cars were featured, spanning many decades up to the present day. All makes and models are welcome, and trophies will be awarded in a variety of categories. There is a $10 fee to enter a car in the show.

“In an age of technology and communication via text and tweet, car shows offer a tangible way of gathering together,” says Jack Marroney, the event chair. “Car collectors have a special bond with each other and these events allow people to reminisce and engage with one another face-to-face, the old-fashioned way.”

Proceeds support both local and national veterans’ programs, specifically the Military Family Services, which provides items such as phone cards, home heating oil, and appliances to military families in need.

The car show is sponsored by Bouvier Insurance, Full Power Radio, Kevin Edward Gentleman’s Barber Shop, Kia of Old Saybrook, New England Power Equipment, Renewal by Andersen, Saybrook Motor Sports, and Whelen Engineering.
