Historian and author Jerry Roberts will visit the Carriage House, 245 Main Street, Deep River on Thursday, Sept. 26 at 6 p.m. to discuss The Connecticut River from the Air: An Intimate Perspective of New England’s Historic Waterway.

The book is a collaborative project between Roberts and former Marine Corps fighter pilot Tom Walsh that takes readers on an adventure along the 410-mile course of New England’s greatest river.

During the talk, Roberts will discuss how he and Walsh, also the photographer, explored the river from its mouth on Long Island Sound to its source just a few hundred yards from the Canadian border, tracing its flow through four states and hundreds of years of history, punctuated by villages and towns, bridges and dams and breathtaking natural beauty.

The book features aerial photographs, way-finding maps, and a narrative that attempts to bring the waterway to life. Books will be available for purchase after the talk.

This event is co-sponsored by the Deep River Public Library and the Deep River Historical Society. There is no registration for this event. All are welcome.
