Nibbles: The Impossible Burger

I do love a good burger. I like to know that the ground beef I buy at the supermarket does not come to the supermarket in 50-pound sacks of plastic. When I buy beef, I pick up a nice hunk of chuck and ask the butcher to chop it for me. I am a happy carnivore, so the idea of a vegetarian burger isn’t my idea of happiness. But I, too, have been seeing the commercials about the not-meat Impossible Burger, so I ordered the Impossible Whopper at Burger King. Topped with the sauce, lettuce, good tomatoes, onions, and pickles in a big sesame-seeded bun, it was easily as delicious as its regular Whopper.

But here is the problem: Unless you ask ahead of time, that veggie burger is cooked on the same griddle as the beef burgers. And vegans won’t want the mayonnaise, either. My guess is the Impossible Whopper with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and pickles will be a pretty dry vegetarian burger.
