The Survivors Swing Band will play at the East Haven Town Beach, 148 Cosey Beach Avenue, East Haven on Wednesday, Aug. 28 at 6:45 p.m. Concert goers should bring chairs or blankets. In case of rain, the concert will be at the Hagaman Memorial Library, 227 Main Street, East Haven.

Since 2011, the Survivors Swing Band has performed on more than 500 occasions in eight years at senior centers, assisted living facilities, and libraries, as well as other venues all over Connecticut and beyond. It has brought back some great musical memories for innumerable seniors and other fans (both young and old) of Swing-era music. For more information, visit www.survivorssb.com.

The band will play it straight as a group, but it also improvises as the spirit moves each member, giving variety to their musical renderings while ensuring that the melodies remain recognizable and reminiscent for their audiences.

Members of the band include Jeremy Alston on drums, Jules Bashkin on alto sax, Greg Butko on reeds, Lauren Humpage on bass and vocals, and Dave Mechler on cornet and trumpet.

The concert is free and open to everyone and is sponsored by the Friends of the East Haven Hagaman Library. Parking for the library’s Music on the Beach events is available to East Haven residents as well as non-residents after 5 p.m. in the East Haven Town Beach parking lot across the street from the beach house. More information is available by calling Cynthia at 203-468-3891.
