Nibbles: Local Tomatoes

My friends with vegetable gardens say the tomatoes are late this year. I wonder if that is true or if they are just telling me that because they don’t want to share with me. Funny, they don’t mind sharing zucchini! Last week when I went to my local farm for my community share, I spied, 30 feet away, green cardboard containers filled with yellow cherry tomatoes. I bought three pints. On my way home, I ate half a pint. That evening I ate a pint with a loaf of freshly made bread. I will finish up the last pint of tomatoes with sweet corn from another local farm and sautéed Vidalia onions, in an omelet, for dinner. By the time you read this, I’m hoping everyone will be lucky enough to have local luscious tomatoes. I plan to eat at least one each day until will September.
