Free Family Astronomy Night at Young’s Park in Branford

The Astronomical Society of New Haven is organizing an evening under the stars, a chance for the whole family to come observe the night sky through telescopes and binoculars and see things they might never get to see without the telescope. Those who own a telescope and are not sure how to use it are welcome to bring it along before it gets dark; society members will help show how to use it.

The event starts at 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 8 at Young’s Park, 60 Blackstone Avenue, Branford. The event usually ends about 10 to 11 p.m.

The moon will be in good viewing position that weekend. The telescopes will be looking at the Hercules and Beehive star clusters. Jupiter will be rising later in the evening. As always, there are always a few shooting stars and passing satellites.
