The June show at the Essex Art Association (EAA) is the Elected Artists’ Exhibition.

The opening reception is Friday, May 31 from 6 to 8 p.m. The show runs Saturday, June 1 to Saturday, June 22. The EAA Gallery is located at 10 North Main Street, Essex.

The Gantner Gallery show, Mini Retrospective, showcases artwork created by Ralph Levesque.

“I am a romantic visual poet, aware that all designs and symbols are inspired by the natural. Therefore, I am not concerned with producing copied images of nature, but, seek to find beauty within the concrete; behind the material level,” Levesque says. “Instinctively and unconsciously I seek the essence of universal beauty, the intrinsic force of all. The true artist is but a person who understands what others only know about. Using materials both natural and man-made, old and new, discarded and found or recycled, I discover their hidden truth. The hidden reality of matter it is always moving and changing, evolving and becoming anew.”

Exhibiton juror Jan Ayer Cushing is currently the co-owner of The Barn for Artist Youth (BAY) in Niantic. BAY is a private art studio that provides weekly art lessons for K-12 art students, focusing on painting, drawing and sculpture. She also has represented both professional fine artists as well as commercial artists.

Gallery hours are 1 to 5 p.m daily, closed Tuesdays. More information is available at essexartassociation.com, essexartct@gmail.com, or by calling 860-767-8996.
