The Connecticut River Museum, 67 Main Street, Essex will be transformed into a riverside tavern on Friday, March 22, with tastings at 6 and 8 p.m.

Two Roads Brewing Co. of Stratford will be featured during the beer and ale tasting, with music by Seat of Our Pants, a folk music group from Marlborough. There also will be tavern games, and a food pairing of American cuisine provided by Catering by Selene.

Seat of Our Pants, known as SOOP, propelled to the forefront of the Connecticut roots music scene with its contemporary acoustic folk songs. This evening will feature Mark Hall on vocals and cajon and Carolyn Brodginski on vocals and strings.

Catering by Selene will offer a light dinner and dessert and will serve a pork pie sampling followed by chess bar bites. As part of the evening, participants will have an opportunity to try their hand at historic games such as Skittles and Captain’s Mistress.

Space is limited and reservations are required. Reservations can be made by calling 860-767-8269 or visiting ctrivermuseum.org. Tickets are $25 for museum members or $30 for the general public, and participants must be 21 or older, and show valid ID. The tickets cover the tastings, light bites, and entertainment. The evening is sponsored in part by Catering by Selene and Connecticut Rental Center. One more Tavern Night will be held on Saturday, April 27 featuring Early American Cocktail tastings presented by Steve Gencarella, the museum’s resident folklorist.
