Robert’s Food Center in North Madison has become the latest grocery store vowing to reduce the use of plastic, with a promise to work toward that goal by 2020. It is teaming up with Country School in Madison and the store recently donated a portion of proceeds of sales to aid in the initiative. Big Y, the Massachusetts-based supermarket chain with stores along the shoreline, has vowed to eliminate single-use plastic bags at the checkout counters next year.
