Home Fire by Kamila Shamsie

By far the most memorable book I’ve read this year, Home Fire is set mostly in present day London, where the home secretary is a Pakistani who has renounced his Muslim roots, and is married to a wealthy American. Their son becomes involved with a beautiful Pakistani woman whose father, and possibly her twin brother, have become jihadists. The cultural conflict escalates, culminating in a never-to-be-forgotten ending. Perfect for book groups!
