Nibbles: Boar’s Head Chicken

Just writing this, I laughed at the headline, “Boar’s Head Chicken.” But, as you know, Boar’s Head meats are in the delis of most supermarkets. I don’t go out of my way to buy this brand, figuring it is pretty much a marketing ploy—it may be very good or it may just be advertising. I went to the deli at my supermarket recently and asked for half a pound of baked chicken. The deli worker inquired about what kind and brand I wanted. I looked at the sign behind her and asked if the Boar’s Head Madrasala Curry chicken was good. The deli worker said it was a little spicy, so, of course, I bought it.

It was just delicious. The spice flavor is just on the crust of the loaf, so it is not terribly spicy, but I love Indian spices and I’m wild about curry, whether Indian curry or Thai curry, which are completely different. Let’s face it, deli chicken is pretty bland, especially when you are making a sandwich with the flax wrap bread I buy a BJ’s. With tomato, lettuce, and a splash of mayonnaise, it was really good.
