You Are Invited: You may never get to the Oscars or the Tonys, but you are invited to attend the 25th annual awards program of the Connecticut Critics Circle. These awards honor outstanding performances, productions and achievements by professional theaters in Connecticut. The ceremony is Monday, June 11 at the Westport Country Playhouse, 25 Powers Street, Westport. It is free and open to the public. The program begins at 7:30 p.m. I hope I see you there.

Janis Joplin: The Tony-nominated musical A Night with Janis Joplin will be at Ivoryton Playhouse, Wednesday, May 30 to Sunday, June 24. The show combines some biography (sanitized since family members were involved in creating the show) with a concert that features many of Joplin’s hits. In addition, the many women who influenced Joplin—Nina Simone, Bessie Smith, Aretha Franklin, and others—are also on stage. For tickets, visit ivoryplayhouse.org or call 860-767-7318.

Hot Ticket: Tickets may be hard to get for the Goodspeed production of Cyrano—a new musical that will get a workshop production, Friday, Aug. 3 to Sunday, Sept. 2 at the Terris Theatre in Chester. This new musical based on the play Cyrano de Bergerac will star Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones) and Haley Bennett (The Girl on the Train). Tickets are available at goodspeed.org or 860-873-8668.
