05/10/2018 12:01 AMWhen conversations come up about the First Amendment, I feel particularly well suited to jump in because I once took this amazing class on it at Wesleyan University taught by this guy, John E. Finn, an internationally recognized expert on constitutional theory, the rule of law, and the First Amendment. So when this notice came across my desk about a new book, The Perfect Omelet: Essential Recipes for the Home Cook by John E. Finn, I was like...no. But, yes. Same guy. Finn. Turns out, in addition to his J.D. from Georgetown University and his Ph.D. from Princeton University, he managed to get a degree from the French Culinary Institute at some point. This makes me wonder, do we have a God-given, constitutionally protected right to a perfect omelet? Well, now we can find out. Finn has been invited to the North Haven Memorial Library, 17 Elm Street, North Haven on Monday, May 14 at 6:30 p.m. to talk about omelets, cooking, and life. There will be a demonstration. I can vouch for his ability to make the First Amendment fascinating and have no doubt he’ll do the same with omelets.
