In the week between her funeral and his birthday party, we are taken on a journey of reminiscence through the lives of his big, messy, Mexican-American family. Though very much about the passing of time and the inevitability of death, the plot offers plenty of twists and turns. I found myself grabbing a tissue, marking passages filled with tender moments, and then laughing out loud as I continued down that same page.
