Nibbles: Chip in a Bottle

Recently I judged Chocolate to the Rescue in Middletown, a fundraiser run by the Columbus House. I have done this for 16 years and, as with most years, I was joined by Chris Prosperi of Metro Bis and Tommy Juliano, executive pastry chef at ON20 restaurant in Hartford. I asked Tommy to tell me which of the chocolates we tasted he liked the best. He said his favorite by far, was from a confectionery in New Haven called Chip in a Bottle. The owner, whose name is Darrell Nurse, makes truffles, macarons, gelato, cheesecakes, cakes, cookies, chocolate bars, and almost any confection one might choose. I, for one, will be making a drive as soon the weather allows. The hours are Monday through Friday from 2 to 8 pm, Saturday noon to 8 and Sunday noon to 6. And if one of your joints are aching, you might ask for some advice, since he is a physical therapist, too.
