03/07/2018 11:01 PMMy husband could never figure out, with all of the incredible ice cream available in Connecticut shoreline shops, in supermarket frozen food aisles, and at home where I sometimes make my own, why I ever wanted to go to Dairy Queen. And I had no way I could explain to him why, sometimes, I just needed a small chocolate-vanilla twist cone or, just sometimes, a Blizzard (even though my favorite, cherry and chocolate chip, is no longer available). I still don’t know why. But I was thrilled when I returned from a board of education meeting recently and saw, in big letters, that the Dairy Queen nearby on Route 1 is open. It’s a true harbinger of spring.—Lee White
