Nibbles: Fiore

A few weeks I listened to some authors read from a book they named So a Bunch of Us Sat Down to Write... at the Old Saybrook library. After the reading and the signing, Michael Gordon, one of the authors, and his wife Joan, decided we should go out to Fiore, also in Old Saybrook. I hadn’t been there in years. I first tasted the garlic knots, yeasty little rolls served, warm, to all customers. I had forgotten how delicious they are: buttery, topped with just a little salt, and totally addictive. For my entrée I ordered their chicken piccata. The cutlets are pounded thin and sautéed with white wine, butter, and capers. Were they always that good? I wondered. Are they the best I have ever had? Yes.
