I loved Winter, the second book in Ali Smith’s seasonal quartet, completely, but what really delighted me was how much this brilliant novel made me laugh. An ambitious and timely work of literature, it features uniquely human characters, sharp political commentary, and reflections on how people evolve through the course of their lives. A story that is cunningly fragmented and ethereally odd at times, it enchanted me wholly.
