Local Author Giving Book Talk at Library

Author Dorothy J. Howell will be at the Westbrook Public Library, 61 Goodspeed Drive, Westbrook on Thursday, Nov. 9, at 7 p.m. to talk about her historical fiction novel Where You Can Hear The Sea And See The Sound.

Set in Scotland and southern New England in the early 17th century, this thoroughly researched tale tells the story of one man’s exile from the Highlands and settlement in the Guilford area of what would become Connecticut.

In his travels he encounters the Native American leaders Sassacus and Uncas as well as the colonial leaders John Mason and Lion Gardiner. He witnesses battles in the Pequot War and the difficult relations between the settlers and the native tribes.

Books will be available to purchase and refreshments will be available.
