The Legacy Theatre is offering a free acting workshop on Friday, Oct. 13 from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Nathanael B. Greene Community Center, 32 Church Street, Guilford for all ages, levels, and abilities. The interactive class will expose students of all ages to improvisation, acting and reacting, exploring subtext, and creating short scenes. It will be directed by Legacy Theatre Artistic Director Keely Baisden Knudsen. It is open to all levels and abilities.

Space is limited, so those who are interested should email Info@LegacyTheatreCT.org.

That is just one of numerous free performances and activities, open to all, being offered that weekend as part of the Guilford Performing Arts Festival. There will be more than 50 events at 17 locations around the Guilford Green and around town.

Events include bluegrass, rock, opera, and Broadway hits; ballet and social dancing; poetry; drama; audience-participation shows; workshops; and more, including music in elementary schools. All events are free and open to the public on a first-come basis.

The four-day celebration is dedicated to enriching the lives of area residents and visitors, welcoming them not only as audience members but also as participants. It brings to fruition a long-held aspiration of Guilford resident William Boughton, director of the Guilford Performing Arts Festival. The festival runs from Thursday, Oct. 12 to Sunday, Oct. 15.
