In what has become a popular annual tradition, artists have dreamt up and hand-crafted an array of fantasy worlds for the Florence Griswold Museum’s wee faerie village. This year’s is “Faerieville USA: In and Around a Wee Faerie Town,” and it’s on view through Sunday, Oct. 29 on the museum’s grounds at 96 Lyme Street, Old Lyme.

Among the whimsical creations: a faerie bakery, library and flower shop. Erica Mann, a preschool teacher from Pomfret, has created the Faerieville Elementary School and Athletic Park.

A special feature is Sand-topia, a mini metropolis made of sand by sand sculptor Greg Grady.

Students from a number of schools are participating in Faerieville USA.

Café Flo has also created some food specials for Faerieville USA including sherry mushroom soup at the Barrow Bark Chapel; greens with sugar and spice toasted pumpkin seeds, diced apples, golden raisins and balsamic dressing at the Farmer’s Market; a roasted turkey, pear, and brie griddled sandwich paired with a cup of root vegetable and barley soup with bacon at Birtwhitle Antiques; peppercorn and fennel crusted swordfish with herbed roasted heirloom carrots at The Underwater Academy for SeaFaeries; for children 12 and under, beef sliders with potato chips, chicken fingers, grilled cheese and PB&J at The Amusement Park; apple caramel pie with crumb topping at the Sugar Crumb Faerie Bakery; and hot toddies at the Fire House

The museum is at 96 Lyme Street, Old Lyme. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Admission during the exhibition is $15 for adults, $14 for seniors, $13 for students, $5 for members, and free to kids 12 and under.
