On Sunday, Oct. 1, at 4 p.m., at the Holy Advent Church, 81 East Main Street, Clinton, Leslie Valentine, mezzo-soprano, accompanied by Christine Doré, will sing Songs for All Seasons, a performance of works from Bernstein, Schubert, Quilter, and Fauré, as well as selections from the Great American Songbook. Proceeds will benefit the music program at Holy Advent Church.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children, and can be purchased at the door.

Immediately following the concert, there will be a barbecue featuring slow-cooked pulled pork sandwiches and all the fixin’s. The proceeds from the barbecue will be donated to the Food for All Community Garden. Each week, the community garden supplies hundreds of pounds of fresh produce to the Clinton Food Pantry and other food pantries and soup kitchens in the shoreline area. Those attending the barbecue are encouraged to take a stroll through the garden to enjoy seeing the fresh vegetables and beautiful flowers growing there. Diners may eat inside the parish hall or outside on the deck or even on the grounds right outside the garden. Tickets for the barbecue are $12 and can be reserved by telephoning the church office at 860-669-2232. A children’s meal will be available for $6. Soda, water, beer, and wine are available. Patrons may attend one or both of the events, as tickets are sold separately; take out barbecue boxes are available for those who can’t stay.
