A celebration of the reopening of the Adam Stanton House, 63 East Main Street, Clinton, as a new nonprofit museum will take place at the annual Harvest Moon Benefit, Saturday, Sept. 30 from 7 to 10 p.m.

The Adam Stanton House showcases the life of a prominent merchant in a well-preserved, late 18th century home and early general store. All furnishings within the home belonged to the Stanton family and provide a sense of what life was like in early times. This inaugural benefit will mark the reopening of the property to the public and showcase efforts of the newly formed 501c-3 non-profit Adam Stanton House, Inc., to renew efforts to preserve and maintain the property as an educational museum.

Knowledgeable docents will be present to help share the Stanton family story and discuss how guests can be part of the efforts to preserve this special property.

Tickets are $50 and include wine, beer, spiced cider, cheese, and appetizers served in decorated candlelit rooms with musical entertainment. There will be a museum scavenger hunt with many prizes and door prizes awarded, including gift certificates to Chips, monogrammed blankets, etched glassware, and more.

The ticket price includes a one-year membership in the museum. They can be purchased at www.adamstantonhouse.org, where additional event details and information about the new Adam Stanton House, Inc. organization can be found. This fundraiser will help support the restoration and reopening of the museum. Most of the ticket price is fully tax-deductible. For more information, email adamstantonhouse@gmail.com. Sponsors of and donors to the event include Café Allegre in Madison and Bishop’s Orchards in Guilford.
