Walt Woodward Brings Frost Season to Bushnell Farm

Bushnell Farm

The poetry of Robert Frost, in story and song, will be featured by state historian Walt Woodward and the musical group Band of Steady Habits in a program that is free, and open the public on Sunday, Oct. 8 at 4 p.m.

On-site parking is available at the farm, located at 1445 Boston Post Road, Old Saybrook, and patrons should dress for the weather.

Woodward and the Band of Steady Habits will pair the poetry of Frost with songs that reflect and amplify the power of New England’s most beloved poet’s words.

Frost was a four time Pulitzer Prize-winner for volumes of his poetry. Woodward was once a hit songwriter and is now an award-winning author of books about New England history and an associate professor at the University of Connecticut.

A long-time admirer of Frost, Woodward and his musical partners present a unique tribute to Frost including a lecture, love story, poetry reading, and song-pairing all in one.

Established in 1678, Bushnell Farm is an ideal venue to enjoy Frost’s works with its ancient stone walls, stacked fences, barns, and farm equipment. Privately owned by Herb and Sherry Clark of Essex, the 22-acre farm is open for occasional public programs such as this and for the annual Harvest Home event on Sunday, Nov. 5. School programs, a summer camp, and seasonal festivals celebrate Connecticut’s agriculture and enterprise in the pre-industrial age.
