The story revolves around an aspiring singer named Marina (Vega), who tries to build a life with her older boyfriend only for him to pass away. It looks like it’ll mesmerize while simultaneously tugging on the heartstrings. Thanks to its positive word-of-mouth out of the Berlin, Telluride, and Toronto Film Festival, the film provides a strong case for lead actress Daniela Vega to land a Best Actress nomination, making her the first ever trans performer to be up for an acting Oscar.
A Fantastic Woman is set to come out in theaters on Friday, Nov. 17.
