Call The Nurse by Mary J. MacLeod

This is a charming memoir filled with short stories about Nurse Mary MacLeod. Mary and her family leave the hectic pace of life in London for a simpler life in the Hebrides islands off the coast of Scotland. The stories take place in the 1970s and they are full of the adventures which the MacLeod family embarks upon. Although some of the stories focus on the author’s nursing-related house calls, many of the recollections describe the way of life on an island and the many challenges faced by those living in a remote area. This is a lovely account of ordinary people thriving in an extraordinary setting.
