Town Hall Artists for September, October Announced.

Poppy Season, Diana Rogers

The Town Hall Artists for September and October will be Liz Egan and Diana Rogers, according to the Madison Art Society. Their work will be exhibited at Madison Town Hall, 8 Campus Drive, Madison

Both are residents of Clinton. The study of nature through plein air work and in their travels informs the paintings of both artists. The art show is open to the public and is viewable during regular business hours.

Rogers’s paintings are all about color and nature. Landscape and seascape painting is a direct way for her to connect emotionally with mother nature. She says, “the world is losing pristine landscapes and seascapes at a rapid pace” and that documenting what she sees and appreciating nature is a way for her to show her respect for the environment. Her paintings are in private and public collections including Yale Smilow Cancer Center and Yale Art Space in New Haven.

After graduating from Purchase College (BFA) and Buffalo State College (M.S.), Egan began what became a 15-year career in non-profit arts administration. She worked in colleges, universities, non-profits, and as an independent arts consultant. She has been executive director of WYBC (Yale University), managing director of Company One Theater (Hartford), and art consultant in the Inner City Cultural Development Program, a program of the CT Commission on the Arts.

Throughout, Egan remained true to her art, drawing and painting and finding unique opportunities to bring her art to the community. Her many murals in college found their natural evolution in the installation art and set design which she began to do in the early ’90s, designing sets for theaters and dance productions including The Pedro Alejandro Dance Ensemble. Continuing to bring art to the community, she currently teaches art at Westbrook Middle School.
