Published writer, certified expressive arts educator, and Stony Creek resident Amy J. Barry will lead an adult workshop series to encourage creative self-expression through reading and writing poetry and short prose followed by group discussion. She will use a variety of writing exercises, such as visual and word prompts to help participants tap into the intuitive, imagistic right side of the brain, and transform negative energy into positive energy.

This workshop is an opportunity to take time out to get playful and reflect on one’s own personal journey and life transitions in a supportive environment. Previous writing experience is not required.

More information about Barry at www.aimwrite-ct.net.

The series will be held on four consecutive Mondays: Sept. 11, 18, 25 and Oct. 2 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Willoughby Wallace Memorial Library (WWML) in Stony Creek.

There is no charge for attendance for the program, sponsored by The Friends of WWML, but space is limited and registration is required; call 203-488-8702 or visit www.wwml.org. The library is located at 146 Thimbles Island Road.

Materials required: writing implement, notebook or journal.
