Hot Dogs, Noodles, and Sauerkraut?

I got a call from a woman recently who wondered if we did recipe requests. She said she was looking for a very simple recipe, one she remembered from her childhood while attending a two-room schoolhouse in North Guilford. The ingredients were hot dogs, noodles, and sauerkraut. The question she had was, how best to prepare it? “It’s all in the putting together,” she said. She said it was made by Mrs. Lane, the mother of the janitor, Hosmer Lane, who went by Homer. She said she remembered the recipe fondly, and that the kids used to just eat it up, but that she’s tried it a few times since then, and it was “not successful.” If you have such a recipe, or any thoughts on how best to prepare it, please let me know at p.mcnerney@shorepublishing.com, and I’ll share it with our reader, who said she would love to have the recipe, not only to make it, but also to put in her memory box.
