A Whimsical Review of History Set to Music Planned

The Killingworth Follies will be shown Thursday, Aug. 3 at Haddam Killingworth Middle School at 7 p.m.

The original Killingworth Follies was performed 25 years ago by a group of talented Killingworth residents as part of the town’s 325th celebration.

The Follies was a multi-act production that was narrated by former first selectman David Denvir and directed with an original musical score by Sallie Riblet. Ruth Igoe and Sandy Smith produced the original show while Diane Aeschliman did the artistic design. It ran for two nights and was completely sold out. Residents had to be turned away at the door. As part of the town’s 350th Anniversary celebration, there will be a video rebroadcast of the original Follies on Thursday evening, Aug. 3.

Many former cast members will be present in costume (those that still fit) and the evening will be narrated by Sallie Riblet and others. Sponsored by the Killingworth Historical Society, the original Follies had “humorous commercials” for the local businesses that helped sponsor the show between acts. Admission is free and a fun evening is promised.
