Sherri Athay from Truffle Shots, 1 North Main Street, Essex tells us that once again the company’s creations have prevailed, this time at the 2017 Americas Competition of the International Chocolate Awards. Her daughter and co-creator Lauren Athay said the company stepped outside of its comfort zone this year, the third time it has participated in this competition. “In addition to awards for five Truffle Shots brand chocolate truffle entries in various ganache categories, the company won top honors for its first-time entries in the categories of White Chocolate Dragées, Milk Chocolate Dragées, and Dark Chocolate Spreads for a total of 10 awards in this year’s competition, eclipsing the seven awards won by the company in 2015 and the eight won in 2016,” the company said in a prepared release. “Truffle Shots’ 10 winning entries now advance to the World Finals...” Sherri says her favorite part of the competition was meeting other makers of bean-to-bar craft chocolate, something her husband, Larry Athay, co-owner of the family business, agrees with.
