This Pulitzer Prize-winning author has put together an enjoyable collection of his most important speeches—inspirational and uplifting, at a time when our divided country needs it most. Each speech is a moving lesson in United States history, filled with interesting details. My favorite is, of course, the Independence Day naturalization speech given at Monticello, where McCullough reminds us, in the spirit of Jefferson, to remain open to new ideas and prize tolerance, common sense, and a love of the earth and its abundance. Sheer perfection!
