Nibbles: S&P Oyster Co.

Had it been two decades since I’d been to S&P Oyster Co. in Mystic? On the other hand, had I ever been there at all? Maybe not or I would have remembered how fabulous the food had been. On the other hand, maybe it wasn’t. But it is terrific now. Two friends took me there for my birthday. Joan, who writes restaurant reviews, has loved it for a long time. We chewed on rosemary rolls, made by Sift especially for the restaurant. Phyllis ordered two soft tacos with shrimp. Joan ordered a shrimp risotto that was lovely. I ordered the Seafood Ambrosia: shrimp, sea scallops, crab, and day boat cod topped with a light breadcrumb topping along with a small bowl of perfectly cooked mushrooms, broccoli, and sweet corn. I would order that entrée in a New York minute, and, please believe me when I say it won’t be a decade, or a year, or a month before I go again.
