All Things Cease to Appear by Elizabeth Brundage

This is a psychological thriller written with a definite literary flair. Set in upstate rural New York during the late 1970s and ’80s, this is a family drama that concentrates on two families who lived in a particular old farmhouse. You have the Hales—whose parents committed suicide in this house—and the Clares—whose wife was murdered in this house. These families are bound by unhappiness and tragedy. Suffice to say, your interest will be piqued from the very beginning as you get to know the two families and their stories.
