05/11/2017 12:01 AMArtist David Dunlop will be featured at the opening reception for his solo show at Susan Powell Fine Art Galleries on Friday, May 19, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the gallery at 679 Boston Post Road, Madison.
Everyone is invited, appetizers and wine will be offered.
“Dunlop’s solo exhibit of 35 new paintings is a colorful sampler of an artist’s journeys extending from the quiet of intimate nature to the visceral energy of city life,” says Susan Powell. “David invites you to travel through luminous atmospheres, through light as it bounces from rivers and streams onto the startled surfaces of meadows and bridges, through atmospheric sunlight as it saturates great urban spaces from Grand Central Station to hurried avenues, across brightened fields, along natural shorelines, and into forested glens illuminated by the light filtered between the matrix of branches. Here are vivid and personal explorations with color, texture, surface, [and] motion that reflect an innovative artistic experience of travels in light.”
Dunlop will give a talk and artist demonstration in the gallery’s garden on Saturday, May 20 from 3 to 4 p.m. Reservations are recommended. The event is free
