Dogs, Dogs, and More Dogs

I recently wrote about a delectable dessert called Bubbies Mochi, and noted you could buy them at a place called Jake’s Diggity Dogs. In addition to the mochi, you also can get hot dogs at Jake’s. So shortly after I filed that other story, I headed into New Haven with some friends to check out the dogs. Thirty four toppings. Four relishes. Two hot dog roll flavors. And that’s just for starters. They have a dog topped with macaroni and cheese. They have a Reuben topped with pastrami and swiss cheese and either sauerkraut or cole slaw and any additional cold topping. They have the Mex with guac, salsa, jalapeños, tomatoes, and onions. There’s the Three Dog Night, three dogs with two hot toppings, and a cold topping wrapped in a burrito. And the list goes on and on. We checked out the dog stand at 216 Crown Street in New Haven, and there is a satellite location at 49 Leetes Island Road, Branford. We’ll be back.
