Staff Pick: The Marketplace at GFC’s Juice Bar

Every so often when I am feeling experimental I will try something new on the beverage menu at The Marketplace at Guilford Food Center. Last Tuesday was one of those days. With a growling stomach and having had skipped breakfast that morning, the Juice Bar looked enticing. The carrot ginger with pineapple called to me, almost audibly. While I cook with ginger nearly three days out of the week and adore the sweetness of pineapple, I may just be the most finicky person ever when it comes to carrots (despite the health benefits I know I could use). Needing the boost and figuring I could plug my nose if I didn’t end up liking it, I overruled my usual guiltless smoothie choices and opted for some cold, frothy veggies in a cup. While there hasn’t been a smoothie I didn’t like, I have had my share of juices that I regretted trying when in my experimental moods. I had no such bad luck that afternoon. I won’t be silly and list all of the frivolous benefits or the healthy advantages derived from doing a body good. That’s nonsense. Let’s focus on taste, which was truly outstanding. I highly recommend it; especially to those, like me, who see carrot listed in ingredients and feel themselves twitch a little.
