Lifelong Love of Art Results in Retirement Art Career

Linda Beagle, a long time resident of Madison, started painting after receiving a paint by number set when she was a child. When the painting was done, there was paint left over and so she started a love affair with drawing and painting.

Eventually she went to Southern University to become an art education major. Although finances prevented her from finishing college, she continued to pursue her hobby and became an artist member of the Clinton and Madison art societies until going back to work full time.

Now retired, she has again started painting and displaying her work. She is currently a member of the Madison, Clinton, Lyme, and Guilford art leagues and enjoys getting together with other seniors who, like her, have time now to express themselves. Beagle teaches a class at the Estuary Center, 220 Main Street, Old Saybrook on Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m., called the Marshview Artists.

Beagle will attend the Marshview Gallery Artist Reception on Friday, March 11 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Estuary Council of Seniors, 220 Main Street, Old Saybrook. All are welcome. Light refreshments will be served.

The Estuary Council of Seniors, Inc. Regional Senior Center serves Chester, Clinton, Deep River, Essex, Killingworth, Lyme, Old Lyme, Old Saybrook, and Westbrook.
