Great food, great fun, for a great cause. Photo courtesy of Dinners at the Farm

Dinners at the Farm—the series of farm dinners that has been supporting local farms, school kitchens, farmers markets, and other great organizations since 2007—has posted its 2017 schedule. Dinners at Barberry Hill Farm, 353 Boston Post Road, Madison will run from Wednesday, July 26 to Sunday, July 30, and dinners at White Gate Farm, Upper Pattagansett Road, East Lyme, will run from Wednesday, Aug. 9 through Sunday, Aug. 13. The evening kicks off at 6 p.m., and dinner is served around 7 p.m. The dinners include passed hors d’oeuvres, a tour of the farm, and friendly groups of people seated at long candle-lit tables with proper place settings under huge white tents. The dinners include multiple courses with food from the fields nearby, along with other Connecticut farmers, fisherman, and members of the state’s agricultural community. And, better yet, for the past 10 seasons, the dinners have donated $150,000 to beneficiaries that include CT Region 4 School Kitchens, the New Connecticut Farmer Alliance, Connecticut Farmland Trust, Working Lands Alliance, and more.
