The Leopard at the Door by Jennifer McVeigh

Immediately engaging, this is the powerful story of 18 year-old Rachel returning to her father’s farm in 1952 Kenya, where things have changed dramatically. The tension of the Mau Mau uprising has grown. Native friends are being driven off of their land. There is also a forbidden relationship, and an intolerant woman influencing her father. Reading this book almost felt like watching a really good movie. I love being transported to another time and culture, and this book did just that!
