Being the expert that I am, a ramen aficionado, if you will, I would say that you couldn’t find any that was better than what you would find at Momofuku Noodle Bar in Manhattan. So when I heard of a new noodle bar opening in downtown New Haven that was already getting raved reviews, I had to try it. Although the ramen did not disappoint (I had the paitan chicken option), it was the red oil dumplings that will have me going back. They also have a happy hour Monday through Friday from 3 to 6 p.m., but I’d recommend going early since they fill up quickly. Mecha Noodle Bar is located at 201 Crown Street in New Haven, with additional locations in Fairfield and South Norwalk.
