12/14/2016 11:01 PMThe Arts Council of Greater New Haven held its annual awards luncheon on Dec. 2 at the New Haven Lawn Club. The theme for this year’s awards was Creative Communicators, honoring individuals and groups who engage the arts in new and creative ways.
This year’s winners were Kwadwo Adae, a muralist visual artist, art instructor and founder/director of Adae Fine Art Academy in New Haven; Travis Carbonella, a videographer, producer, and storyteller from Middletown; East Street Arts, a maker space in New Haven that engages artists throughout the community, including those with developmental challenges; David Sepulveda, an artist, journalist, and retired teacher who is very active in the New Haven arts scene; and Margaret Anne Tockarshewsky, executive director of the New Haven Museum since 2012.
The C. Newton Schenck III Award for Lifetime Achievement in and Contribution to the Arts went to Charles C. Kingsley, partner at Wiggin and Dana law firm, a wildlife photographer and long-time patron of the arts in New Haven.
