The hands-on basics of making real pickled, fermented dilly beans and other delicious veggies from the summer harvest will be the focus of a workshop on Thursday, July 21 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Cityseed, 817 Grand Avenue, New Haven.

Fermentation expert Ann Mione will share her passion and wisdom about all things fermented in this workshop, including dilly beans, cauliflower, and pickles. She will discuss how to make these easily at home. Participants are welcome to bring vegetables from their own gardens to use in their recipe for this class.

Participants will make each recipe, learn variations, and take a jar of each home to ferment. Light snacks also will be available during class.

There are three sliding scale scholarship tickets available for each workshop intended for low-income New Haven community residents. Those who can afford to pay it forward may contribute a little more than the standard ticket price to donate to support our scholarship tickets. Contact Tagan, at tagan@cityseed.org or 203-773-3736 with questions.

Participants who purchase a ticket will be supporting access to Connecticut-grown healthy food for everyone in New Haven through all of CitySeed’s markets and programs, and helping Cityseed to sustain their programs.
