The East Haven Arts Commission has announced its 2015 Summer Youth Theater production of a musical comedy whodunit by Rupert Holmes, John Kander and Fred Ebb titled Curtains starring local youth aged 14 to 25. Youth from East Haven and surrounding communities are involved in the performance.

Mystery ensues when Jessica Cranshaw (played by Christina Branfuhr), lead actress of a Boston theater company’s production of Robbin’ Hood, is murdered during the curtain call. Jesse Walters will perform the role of Detective Lieutenant Frank Cioffi, who arrives on the scene to solve the crime and becomes enamored with Cranshaw’s understudy, played by Lauren Higgins. Additional key roles include the songwriter who takes over Cranshaw’s place, Georgia Kendricks (played by Kiera Terrell) and her songwriting partner and estranged husband, Aaron Fox played by Zach Treichel. As additional murders occur in the theater, the cast, crew, producers directors, and choreographers continue to sing and dance their way through rehearsals while quarantined in the theater, until the murders are finally solved.

Performances will be held on Friday, July 24 and Saturday, July 25 at 7 p.m. at Joseph Melillo Middle School auditorium, 67 Hudson Street, East Haven. Tickets are $14 for adults and $12 for senior citizens and children under 12 and are available by calling 203-215-2483 or at the door at all performances.
