Works by Schirmeier on Display at Essex Library


Westbrook residents Beverly Schirmeier is the featured artist for the month of January at the Essex Library at 33 West Avenue. Her works are on display during regular library hours: Monday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Schirmeier holds elected artist memberships in the Guilford Art League, Essex Art Association, and Madison and Clinton Art societies. She is an associate artist of the Lyme Art Association, East Hampton Art Society, Connecticut Pastel Society, and the Connecticut Plein Air Painters. She is currently the president of the Madison Art Society.

Schirmeier's oil paintings and pastels are inspired by the color and light used by the Lyme Impressionists. They include New England landscapes and still-life art work. All of the landscapes are done en plein air. She has won juror awards in the Madison Art Society, Milford, Essex, and the Clinton Art Society juried shows.
