Watercolorist Cheri Weymann Featured at Liberty Bank Clinton

Hosta-Shades of Green, watercolor, by Cheri Weymann

Work by Branford watercolor artist Cheri Weymann is on display and for sale throughout the months of December and January at Liberty Bank, 8 East Main Street, Clinton. The exhibit is open to the public for viewing during regular business hours, Monday to Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; and Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to noon.

Weymann began taking art lessons as a child in New Haven, where she attended the Cechetti School of oil painting near Yale. She minored in art at Adelphi University. Her early adulthood was spent as a dance teacher and performer, during which time she designed costumes for herself and her dance troupes. In 1999, she began watercolor painting and studied with Dee Winterhalter of Sarasota, Florida. Since then, Weymann has exhibited and won prizes for her watercolor paintings and fine ink drawings at many juried shows along the shoreline and her paintings have been accepted to hang in many art galleries. She is a member of the Guilford Art League, Madison and Clinton Art societies, New Haven Arts Council, New Haven Paint and Clay, and the Lyme Art Association.

Weymann's idea of "good art" is that which produces an oxygenation of the body-with a gasp, or sigh, or a long breath. She sees it as an extension of the creation in light, color, form, feeling, and movement. Her role is to use her gift in whatever way it is being manifested that day. Her subjects include landscapes, still lifes, florals, seascapes, wildlife, portraits, and semi-abstract works done in watercolors and pen and inks.
